1. Christ who is the city of refuge (Num 35:6,11,15,25,28)
    Deut 19:3, Jos 20:2-3, Acts 3:14-15, 17-19, Heb 4:14, Eph 1:7, Rom 8:1-2

God made the Israelites who had entered the land of Canaan to build a city of refuge where the murderer could escape. (Numbers 35:6,11,15,25,28, Deuteronomy 19:3, Joshua 20:2)

Numbers 35:6 And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.
11 Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.
15 These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.
25 And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.
28 Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.

Deuteronomy 19:3 Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.

Joshua 20:2 Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by the hand of Moses:

A person who accidentally killed a person and ran away to the city of refuge could leave the city of refuge and return to the house if the high priest died. This is because the death of the high priest is the price for the murder. (Num 35:32)

Num 35:32 And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.

Because we didn’t even know that Jesus was the Christ at first, we too are like those who put Jesus to death on the cross. (Acts 3:14,17-19)

Acts 3:14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
17 And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.
18 But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

As our high priest, Jesus died on the cross to forgive all our sins. (Hebrews 9:11-12)

Hebrews 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Jesus is our city of refuge. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1-2)

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
