1. God protected the coming of Christ (1 Kings 11:11-13)
    1 Kings 12:20, 1 Kings 11:36, Ps 89:29-37, Mt 1:1,6-7

In the Old Testament, King Solomon disobeyed God’s word by serving foreign gods. God told King Solomon that he would take the kingdom of Israel and give it to King Solomon’s men. However, God promised that one tribe, the tribe of Judah, would keep the promises made to David. (1 Kings 11:11-13, 1 Kings 12:20, 1 Kings 11:36)

1 Kings 11:11 Wherefore the Lord said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.
12 Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father’s sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.
13 Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.

1 Kings 12:20 And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.

1 Kings 11:36 And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

Although the Israelites disobeyed God, God promised that He would send the Christ He had chosen to be a descendant of David. (Psalm 89:29-37)

Psalm 89:29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
30 If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
31 If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.
33 Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.
34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
35 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.
36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.
37 It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.

Christ came to this earth as a descendant of David. That is Jesus. (Matthew 1:1, 6-7,16)

Matthew 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
7 And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
